Godzilla vs. Kong

Godzilla 2: The King of Monsters premiered earlier this year in May. Although it has not done very well with the critics, the final vote for such movies always belongs to the audience. Being the cult classic that it is, Godzilla 2 was welcomed by its fans in the most welcoming of ways.

Legendary Pictures is very confident of the success of their universe of monsters, and that is why they have begun working on the next MonsterVerse film. Of course, this is the expected Godzilla vs. Kong.

This crossover will bring together two of the greatest monsters that the cinema has seen, and the version we will see of the formidable ape king is that of Kong: Skull Island. It is planned that its premiere will be next year, and that is why its filming has already begun. There are some details, but you can imagine it to be like anything in your imagination… until they release an official trailer of some sort. Though we have got the studio’s first poster for you with us.

This was presented at the Licensing Expo, which was held in Las Vegas, Nevada. In it, we can see both titans face to face and a preview of what could happen. The tag line of the movie says “One will fall.” We cannot imagine the God of Destruction defeated (or can we?), but we will have to wait for more details. What is true is that Godzilla vs. Kong will be a formidable duel and will bring the fans’ deepest fantasies to life.

Michael Dougherty, the director of Godzilla 2: The King of Monsters, commented earlier this month about the differences of writing to Godzilla and King Kong for the films. That was in an interview with SFX and said that in the case of the second one it is a little closer to humans because it is a primate. That is why he is allowed to show a slightly greater range of emotions.

That is why warm moments are expected between Kong and humanity. Since the original 1933 film, he was never strictly a monster. “He has always had a very human side in the way he interacts with us. That was a pleasure to write,” he said.

With respect to the Alpha Predator, we cannot expect that. “Any kind of link between Godzilla and humans has generally been more implicit,” said the filmmaker.

“Then, you rarely see the softer side of Godzilla,” while in Kong’s case, “it is an essential part of the character,” he added. At least we have an idea of what to expect from Godzilla vs. Kong in terms of representation.

To confirm the first hints towards the production of the movie, here we have an Instagram post from Adam Wingard, the movie’s director.
