Whiskey Cavalier

The first question during the Whiskey Cavalier TCA panel was asked to Scott Foley about his character’s ‘weepy’ exterior after his character is left heartbroken by his ex-fiance.

“What is your problem with emotion, man?” joked Foley. “I think he carries the weight with him, but he doesn’t carry it with him constantly.”

Foley, who plays the title character, Will Chase aka ‘Whiskey Cavalier’, said that he was drawn to the fact that the character was different from your typical FBI agent.

“I have a very strong belief that it’s time to reinvent that trope that the leading man in an action series,” said Foley. “Something unrelatable in all the tropes with the men we see to save the world, this is something that is modern and more interesting. It’s much more relatable to have a character like this than a stoic character.”

Executive producer David Hemingson first thought of the idea for the series when his friend, a CIA agent, called him one late night to talk to him about his relationship ending. Hemingson realized that these every day heroes have relationship issues too and wanted to portray them as people, “So the whole thing was a growth of a late night phone call.”

Executive producer is Bill Lawrence, best known for his comedies ‘Scrubs’ and ‘Cougar Town’.
