#OscarWildeLA

Mingle Media TV and Red Carpet Report team were at the US-Ireland Alliance’s 14th Annual Oscar Wilde Awards at Bad Robot in Santa Monica. Emceed by J.J. Abrams, the evening’s honorees were Aidan Gillen, Chris O’Dowd and Glenn Close with Melissa McCarthy and Allen Leech as presenters. The Irish band VINCI also performed.

Abrams told guests that when they see US-Ireland Alliance president Trina Vargo, they should ask her about how, “she is single-handedly taking on the Irish Prime Minister in the fight for women’s rights and equality – she is a powerhouse.”

At the event we spoke with Oscar nominees, guests and presenters about this year’s celebration.

One of best parts of the evening is the great food served by Richard Mooney’s Kensington Caterers. Teeling Whiskey, Guinness, Pau Maui Vodka and Fid Street Hawaiian Gin, and Oscar Wilde Water were served, and wine was provided by 1849 Wine Co. The honorees were presented with a Hawke + Axel award — a hand blown eternal flame with a green ribbon running through it.

About Oscar Wilde Awards & the US-Ireland Alliance
The US-Ireland Alliance is a proactive, non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to consolidating existing relations between the United States and the island of Ireland and building that relationship for the future. The organization connects current and emerging Irish and American leaders in various spheres—including education, politics, business and the arts—for the mutual benefit of both countries.

The Alliance helps bring together the creative energy of American and Irish artists. We sponsor and promote a variety of events focusing on Irish arts and culture, and recognize achievements in Irish film, theater, and other creative pursuits. Annually, we host the Oscar Wilde Awards in Los Angeles as well as other cultural events throughout the year. We also feature interviews with prominent Irish artists on our podcast series.
