HBO’s Gentleman Jack tells the fascinating story of Anne Lister (Suranne Jones). The series is inspired by Anne’s now decoded journals and her fight for the right to be her true self.
Anne is a landowner, which was unique for a woman in 1832. She is determined to change the fate of her ancestral home by any means necessary. She refuses to conform to society’s views of how women should behave. She knows she has to marry well but plans to follow her heart and take a wife.
