HBO’s latest miniseries is the untold story of the worst man-made catastrophe in history. Chernobyl is a chilling 5 episode event that traces events before, during, and after the devastating nuclear explosion. Writer Craig Mazin and Director Johan Renck bring to the screen the absolute horrors that existed after the explosion in real life.

The story comes to life through its incredible cast of characters. Viewers will be guided by skeptical scientist Valery Legaslov (Jared Harris), whistleblower nuclear physicist Ulana Khomyuk (Emily Watson), and Soviet Deputy Prime Minister Boris Shcherbina (Stellan Skarsgard). The series immediately kicks off with the nightmare of the nuclear explosion, then is followed by the horrors and sacrifices made to stabilize Europe, and closes with the trial for the 3 laymen the caused the atrocity.

HBO announced that there will be an accompanying podcast to dive deeper into the history and background of the disaster, as reveal the adjustments they made in or to adapt the true story for television.

Chernobyl premieres May 6th on HBO
