If you ever wanted a Johnny Mnemonic 2, the creators of The Witcher series are getting us as close as we’ll ever get in next year’s Cyberpunk 2077. At E3 2019, developer CD Projekt Red showed a behind closed doors demo and claimed the biggest pop of electronic  3 in Los Angeles last week.

Cyberpunk 2077 is an open world, narrative-driven role-playing game set in the universe of the classic pen & paper RPG system — Cyberpunk 2020. The E3 demo showed just how extensive the game’s upgrades and class system will be along with how the entire cyber-biology plays its part.

While the week was won simply by Keanu Reeves surprising fans on the Xbox stage during their press conference to announce the release date of Cyberpunk 2077; CD Projekt Red’s presence saved E3 from boredom. With so much missing from the lack of EA and Sony PlayStation, the substitution of eSports simply wasn’t enough to justify three show days. Had Cyberpunk not had such a large and exciting presence at E3, the video game tradeshow would have lacked a real headliner.

The game wasn’t playable at the show but the electric world it brought to life on the floor had journalists and gamers buzzing where ever you went in the convention center. Cyberpunk’s demo will be part of PAX later this year where even more people will get to experience the action.

Cyberpunk launches on April 16, 2020 for Xbox One, PC, and PlayStation 4. Watch the trailer above to see Keanu Reeves’ return to the genre of cyberpunk.
