If you’ve missed it, there’s a new RomCom (romantic comedy) on Hulu entitled, “Four Weddings and a Funeral.” Yes, it’s an offshoot from the beloved 1994 British film of the same name from Richard Curtis, who is also one of the producers of this miniseries.

The main characters Maya, Craig, Ainsley, and Duffy are Americans who find themselves reunited for a wedding in London but the unthinkable happens at the wedding of Ainsley and as each episode plays out, you see its one of the many life events that happen in life. Which is why we were so invested in the pilot and kept watching into the wee hours of the night.

Pro Tip: Start binge-watching EARLY in the day, that way, you’re not dragging the next day…

We really loved the pilot episode as many new series take more than one episode to ‘grab you’ but not this time, at least for our Red Carpet Report team. It had us at ‘hello.’ Funny enough, there are some pretty fun pop culture references throughout the episodes which, if you are a lover of this genre and the original movie, you’ll appreciate, laugh and keep watching.

One of our favorite characters is Maya, who you may know from Game of Thrones, she played Missandei, who unfortunately, lost her head, but for this series, she is a hopeful romantic who learns to stand on her own two feet and speak up. (No spoilers here).

When you watch the series… be sure to tell us what you think!

Check out the trailer for the series below – you can stream the first four episodes on Hulu now and see new ones on Wednesday nights.

Set Design – Behind the Scenes

Check out this article in Architectural Digest where the set designer gives insight on the ideas behind the amazing creativity of production designer, Patrick Rolfe, who uses bold colors and decor to bring in high end-design for the lush interior shots making the series that much more visually engaging. The 10 episode series feature 190 sets with 30 of them built in the studio.

“The world needs a little bit of love and a little bit of romance and a little bit of comedy,” Rolfe says. “This show is chance to switch off and enjoy a world of color and romance. It’s escapism, and you lose yourself in the beauty of it.”
