2019 has already had premieres like Avengers: Endgame – 95% and Spider-Man: Far from Home – 82%, but the time has come to prepare for the launch of Joker -85%, the expected independent film that tells the terrible story of Arthur fleck, better known as The Joker. Although Warner Bros. was not present at the San Diego Comic-Con, a new synopsis has been released by the company, and it is total madness.
When the Joker movie was announced many months ago, the character’s fans felt confused. Another movie with/for the Joker? Despite the failure of productions as Suicide Squad -25%, Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice -27% and Justice League -41%, Warner Bros. already had a Clown Prince of Crime in Jared Leto, of course, we doubt his return but the character was already done. The situation was clarified when the production house announced that the tape directed by Todd Phillips would be an independent story.
Thanks to the filtering material of the shooting set, we have been able to know much of Joker’s development. The teaser trailer released a few months ago gives us a good idea of the dark and disturbing story that stars Joaquin Phoenix as Batman’s most formidable enemy or his other half, if you’d like to call him that. Now, a new description of the film has been released on the web (via Cosmic Book News) and confirms that this production may not be for everyone.
Arthur, who gives himself completely to the care of his fragile mother, looks for every father figure he has ever had, from the wealthy Thomas Wayne to the television host Murray Franklin. Caught up in a cyclic existence that falters on the precipice of reality and madness, a bad decision causes a chain reaction of large-scale events, ultimately fatal.
In Joker, we will also get to see Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, and Brett Cullen. The film promises to be a bleak and bitter spectacle that demonstrates the transitions that misunderstood people in our society must go through.
According to the director of the film, Joker is not inspired by any comic, rather it is an original story that takes features from different works to create something original, a new interpretation of the beloved and bloody character.
Joaquin Phoenix is not an artist who stands out for being recognized by the Academy; however, he is one of the most spoiled actors in the industry. His participation in films like You’ll Never Be Saved – 79%, Gladiator – 76%, Ella – 95% or Johnny & June: Passion and Madness – 82% place him as a favorite. During an interview granted by Phoenix to IndieWire last year, the actor confessed that it really doesn’t matter what people might think about his participation in Joker. These were his words.
I couldn’t care less, I really don’t think much about what people think. Who cares? My approach to each movie is the same. What I am interested in is the filmmaker and the idea of the character.
Joker will be released in theaters on October 4, 2019, and could be the first film by DC Black, a branch of Warner Bros. dedicated to independent productions with dark themes. Hopefully more projects of this type continue to appear on the billboard.
