The Paley Center for Media hosted The Paley Honors: A Special Tribute to Television’s Comedy Legends at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills. The evening celebrated the enduring creative impact of comedy legends Carol Burnett, Norman Lear, Bob Newhart, Carl Reiner, and Lily Tomlin. Each received the Paley Honors award in acknowledgment of their groundbreaking achievements in television.
The evening highlighted television comedy’s unique ability to remind us of our shared humanity through the power of laughter, with special salutes to television milestones in scripted comedy series, stand-up, late-night, and sketch/variety series.
Presenters included: Allison Janney, Anthony Anderson, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Kristin Chenoweth, Lisa Kudrow, Rob Reiner, and Sean Hayes.
Bob Mackie, Brenda Song, Cedric Yarbrough, Cocoa Brown, Jane Leeves, Jane Seymour, Jason Alexander, Jimmie Walker, Juan Pablo Espinosa, Kat Dennings, Mackenzie Phillips, Marla Gibbs, Michaela Watkins, Mitzi Gaynor, Novi Brown, Peri Gilpin, Tichina Arnold, Zulay Henao and more were in attendance at the star-studded event.
Proceeds raised from this year’s Paley Honors event support the creation of the Paley Center’s Comedy Collection, a unique compendium of programs and groundbreaking comedic moments across eight decades of television, which will be preserved as part of the Paley Archive, the world’s largest publicly accessible archive of TV and radio programming.
