Today, Sony Interactive Entertainment announced via social media their highly anticipated Spring games would be delayed.

SIE has made the difficult decision to delay the launch of The Last of Us Part II and Marvel’s Iron Man VR until further notice. Logistically, the global crisis is preventing us from providing the launch experience our players deserve.”

“Currently, there are no other delays to report, but we’ll keep you updated.”

The Last of Us Part 2 had an original release date of February 22, 2020 which would then be pushed to May 29, 2020. Due to the current health crisis, gamers are left in a state of limbo as to when we may see the game. Sony still has plans to release the PlayStation 5 system this year and it remains to be seen if the ongoing pandemic will affect that in the months to come.

It should be noted, developer Naughty Dog and Camoflauj (Iron Man VR) were nearly complete with their games. Logistical challenges among distribution and post launch support proved to be the deciding factors in going forward with the delays on Sony’s end. Though there are bigger concerns in the world, our hearts go out to all the developers who’ve worked tirelessly for the past few years on these games that are soo close to the finish line.

We’re wishing Naughty Dog, Camoflauj, and all of you out there waiting for these games continued health and wash your hands.
