Do Something Award honorees Daniel Maree and Patrick Dempsey on set at Grey's Anatomy"

By Betsy Galchutt, Entertainment Reporter

Recently we covered the blue carpet for VH1’s Do Something Awards and spoke with several of the celebrities in attendance, including presenter Aisha Tyler.

During the ceremony, it was announced that nominee Daniel Maree, founder of the Million Hoodies Movement for Justice, was awarded the grand prize grant of $100,000 for his efforts to bring the Trayvon Martin case to nation attention through rallying and petitioning for the arrest of George Zimmerman.

Grey’s Anatomy star Patrick Dempsey was also presented with an honor for creating and funding the Center for Cancer Hope & Healing in 2008 after his mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer.

He was so moved by the Do Something Awards nominees that he invited them all to the set of Grey’s Anatomy to hang out and meet some of the show’s cast and crew members.

Check out an image of Patrick and Daniel below! Watch our blue carpet interviews on our YouTube channel, and for a full list of the Do Something Awards nominees, check out our previous coverage here.
