One of the highest honors the Producer’s Guild of America can bestow upon its members is the “Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television.” Lear, is regarded as the father of the modern sitcom, having created “Sanford and Son,” “The Jeffersons,” “One Day At A Time,” “Good Times,” “All in the Family,” and more.
The award is reserved for only the most prolific television producers, with previous recipients such as, J.J. Abrams, Garry Marshall, Mark Burnett, Dick Wolf, Aaron Spelling, and Steven Bochco, the newest person inducted into this club is creator of ‘Dharma & Greg,’ ‘Grace Under Fire,’ & ‘Cybill’.
