Mingle Media TV and Red Carpet Report host Jackie Powell were invited to cover the 18th Annual PRISM Awards at the Skirball Cultural Center honoring writers, producers, directors, and actors for their authentic depictions of mental health and substance use issues.

 Julia Roberts, Will Estes, Allison Janney, Justin Chambers, Chandra Wilson, “Elementary,” “Blue Bloods,” “Parenthood,” “Scandal,” Nurse Jackie,” and the cast of “Call Me Crazy”  were in the lead for the winners.
CBS and ABC came out on top with 4 wins a piece, followed by MTV with 3, NBC and Lifetime received 2 each, Nickelodeon and Showtime each received one award. CBS Studios/CBS Television Distribution took the number one slot among studios with 4 wins, followed by ABC Studios with 3, Sony received 2, and Warner Bros., Weinstein Co., Universal Television, and Lionsgate received one each.  The winners were announced at the ceremony – see complete list below.

Television Category

  • Performance Award went to Nurse Jackie: Season 5 (Showtime).
  • Performance in a Comedy Series went to Allison Janney was honored for her role in Mom (CBS)

Drama Multi-Episode Storylines

  • Elementary (CBS) for the substance use category
  • Parenthood (NBC) for the mental health category
This was Elementary’s second consecutive win and the fifth award for Parenthood in four years.
