For the purposes of this post, we used the VUDU service to stream our digital download of the movie “Labor Day” starring Kate Winslet and Josh Brolin. Thanks to Influenster and Paramount Movies, we were able to have a fun “girls night out” party at home and watch this romantic “chic flick” on our home entertainment system.
As this is a fairly new technology and we had to walk through the how-to ourself, we thought you’d want to see that it’s really not that hard – and you can watch movies digitally and save the planet before they come out in DVD/Blu-Ray formats. If you don’t have Internet TV access – then we recommend getting this movie on DVD/Blu-Ray for posterity – you’ll wear it out watching it!

Accessing the Internet via your TV…
We have an Apple TV, Google Chromecast, Playstation and Wii Console for our living room TV. Because we can’t get to the Internet via our AppleTV, we used our Google Chromecast and accessed our VUDU account where we entered the digital code we received from Paramount Movies to stream the movie “Labor Day.”
The best part of streaming video is that you don’t have to have the storage on a hard drive to watch as it’s stored for you on the app you use.
Once we connected to VUDU via Google Chromecast, we selected the move “Labor Day” via our mobile device (iPhone)
From there we controlled the start of the movie and clicked play!
And then we just sat back with our friends and streamed a high quality HD version of “Labor Day” (with wine, popcorn and a box of tissues) in the comfort of our home… 2 weeks before the movie was available today on BlueRay!
FYI – HDX is a video format exclusive to VUDU, specifically 1080p/24 format, and is equivalent to Blu-ray so we did not see any quality issues and loved the convenience!
