Mingle Media TV and Red Carpet Report host Kristina Rivera were invited to cover the celebration of the 35th anniversary of WKRP in Cincinnati’s series premiere at The Paley Center for Media. In attendance were cast members Tim Reid, Loni Anderson, Jan Smithers and Howard Hesseman along with Creator/Executive Producer Hugh Wilson, Director Jay Sandrich and Asaad Kelada.

TV Trivia: DJ, Johnny Fever used multiple names and you could see them on the side of his coffee cup:  Johnny Duke, Johnny Style, Johnny Cool, Johnny Sunshine, and of course Johnny Fever. Why? Because in the pilot episode, Johnny, was doing shows in different time-slots and had different on-air personas. But he needed to look at his mug to see who he was supposed to be at that time.

Not Familiar with this Award-winning Comedy Series: WKRP in Cincinnati (1978–1982)?

About the Series: Arthur “Big Guy” Carlson tries to run a failing Cincinnati radio station owned by his “tough as nails” mother. His own incompetence is overshadowed by the strange employees that work at the station. From wild Disc Jockeys: Dr. Johnny Fever and Venus Flytrap to the geeky news director, Les Nessman and obnoxious advertising sales manager, Herb Tarlek. With the help of saner employees such as Bailey Quarters; the rather shy journalism major; Jennifer Marlowe, the beautiful receptionist who is the very opposite of a stereotypical “Dumb Blonde” and Andy Travis; the studly program director, Carlson tries gimmick after crazy gimmick to bring money into the station and make it a success.
