Earlier today we spoke with Tyler Blackburn about his return to Pretty Little Liars, about Ravenswood, “Haleb” and how things are with Hannah, how he feels about Ali’s return and what his secret talent is.
We asked Tyler about his return on episode 100 and how he celebrated coming back to Pretty Little Liars as Caleb. He told us that he celebrated by going out to have a nice dinner on hearing about his return and that he was happy to be working on PLL again…
What can we expect on Caleb’s return to Rosewood? Tyler tells us … “a lot… he comes back with a dark energy after his time in Ravenswood and is angry at the world, doesn’t trust anyone and keeps his distance from Hanna.”
Will you be sharing your experiences from Ravenswood? Tyler told us that eventually he will talk about what happened in Ravenswood but is reluctant because its so far out there he doesn’t want people to think he lost it.
What challenges will your character have when you seen Hanna now that she’s with Travis? He said it’s more about what their relationship is going to be, they are both in a dark place and similar space, so they could help each other but he needs to respect boundaries with her and Travis.
We asked if he liked the moniker “Haleb” – the combination of Hannah and Caleb? Tyler laughed and said it was sweet.
We asked Tyler if Caleb wants to get back together with Hanna? He told us that he would like that but it needs to be the right time, he can’t just return to Rosewood and be her Knight in Shining Armor.
How does your character continue to evolve upon your return to Rosewood? Tyler says that his character remains in a dark place, becomes confrontational, and now that he’s back, he looks at what’s happening including Ali’s return (and mentions that he has had some interesting times with Ali) so it will be [good] to see his take on what’s happening now.
What do you like about your character? He likes that he has evolved over time and has a strength that one gets from being a foster child and living on the street. He’s resourceful, not just a computer hacker. He liked that he had a girlfriend that he loved and then he went to Ravenswood and he had to protect himself from demons which has helped his character develop into more of an adult…
Tyler says he has fun playing Caleb and likes his range of emotions and inner strength and appreciates what the writers do for his character.
What is one fun fact that you’d like to share with your fans that you haven’t shared before? It took Tyler a minute to answer but after laughing he said “TWERK” I can twerk! Legitimately, and better than Miley Cyrus.
He continues, to tell us that he and his buddy were watching Miley tweak and then he tried it and did it better than she did and he says that he perfected his twerking in New Orleans while filming Ravenswood.
We jokingly said it would be funny to see that on an episode of PLL and he laughed and said maybe if someone needed saving and he had to twerk to save them but he’d definitely win in any competition.
Okay, ABC Family, the gauntlet has been thrown… we want to see Tyler Twerk!
