The Equalizer

Denzel adds another notch on his “the next Charles Bronson” belt with The Equalizer.

Anyone could have been the title character of ‘The Equalizer,’ its a very common story idea, a man running from his past gets dragged back into it in order to try to move forward. Had this been made in the 70’s it would probably have been Clint Eastwood or Charles Bronson starring, in the 80’s it would have been Sly or Arnie or in the 90’s Jean Claude Van Damme or Bruce Willis. Today, it’s either going to be Liam Neeson bringing the pain to organized crime or, Denzel Washington.

What ‘The Equalizer’ has going for it is reuniting Director, Antoine Fuqua and Denzel for the first time since ‘Training Day” which won Mr. Washington his second Oscar.  Fuqua is no stranger to crime pictures, and no one looks cooler walking away from an explosion than Denzel so this should be a damn good time.

The Equalizer in theaters on September 26th.

About The Equalizer

In The Equalizer, Denzel Washington plays McCall, a man who believes he has put his mysterious past behind him and dedicated himself to beginning a new, quiet life. But when McCall meets Teri (Chloë Grace Moretz), a young girl under the control of ultra-violent Russian gangsters, he can’t stand idly by — he has to help her. Armed with hidden skills that allow him to serve vengeance against anyone who would brutalize the helpless, McCall comes out of his self-imposed retirement and finds his desire for justice reawakened. If someone has a problem, if the odds are stacked against them, if they have nowhere else to turn, McCall will help. He is The Equalizer. (Sony Pictures)
