Jay Leno Hosts the American Friends of Magen David Adom 2nd Annual Red Star Ball

Israel’s national emergency medical response organization,American Friends of Magen David Adom (AFMDA), held their second annual Red Star Ball at the Beverly Hilton. The event was hosted by Jay Leno and included a special musical performance by Paul Anka. The fundraiser had their most successful year so far, raising more than $5.7 million.

Honorees

At the event, Magen David Adom’s wartime medics were honored along with David Wiener receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award, Dr. Bill Dorfman with the Humanitarian of the Year Award, and Gina Edwards with the Next Generation Award. Reunited were two Israelis who were nearly killed by terror attacks this past summer in Israel with the MDA medics who saved their lives.

Funding Support Systems

Proceeds from the Red Star Ball will be used in building MDA’s new national blood center, a facility that will protect Israel’s entire blood supply from terror attacks and natural disasters while continuing to provide 97% of the blood used by Israel’s hospitals and all the blood for the Israel Defense Forces.
