Jackie-Eliminated

We recently spoke with Jackie Pierson, the last eliminated contestant from The Biggest Loser: The Glory Years about her experience on the show and what she learned.

In case you missed it, 36-year old Jackie, mother of two, began the competition at 291 pounds and today is at 208 pounds (video) losing 83 pounds. She has learned to participate with her family, to be happy, worry about herself and love to spin.

If you’re watching this season, it’s also the 10 year anniversary of the show’s premiere where 330 contestants have lost thousands of pounds while learning how to change their lifestyle to be healthier.

Jackie-EliminatedQuestion: Which workout was harder – at the ranch or at Comeback Canyon?

Jackie Pierson told us… “…they were both pretty hard. (Jessie) and (Bob) definitely have their different styles of training. (Bob) was a lot of CrossFit and (Jessie) was a lot of cardio. So…while there was a difference… it was both challenging…by the time I got in the Comeback Canyon I was in a lot more shape and (Bob) was pushing me even more.

…Comeback Canyon was probably the hardest workouts that I have had.”

Question: Which workouts are your favorite to do at home?

Jackie Pierson told us… “…I’m not the biggest fan of treadmills and bikes and stuff, it gets kind of boring, but what I really actually learned that I love is I love spinning.

I love spin classes.

I really enjoy doing the CrossFit and something that I did a lot with (Jessie) was boxing — which I love. My dad was a boxer back in the day and before boxing with (Jessie) I haven’t boxed… last time I boxed was with my dad when I was a teenager.”

Question: How has your life changed since you’ve been back home?

Jackie Pierson told us… “…before, I felt like I was more just existing in the world and existing in hiding… my husband was the one who took my daughter to birthday parties and to playdates and… I stayed in the house. I think that’s the big reason why my daughter called me inside mommy.

Fully Participating Now

…for the first time since both of them are born I’m fully participating with them. I’m enjoying playing with them. I’m enjoying being outside with them and that’s – it’s a huge, huge thing in my family and I just noticed even the happiness of my girls. You know, they’re a lot happier now with me participating in life with them.

This experience has changed me in ways that I’m not even sure I can explain… I’m the type of person that took care of everybody else but me, and from a very young age I was the type of kid that had the weight of the world on her shoulders.

And while I was at the Ranch and at Comeback Canyon, I learned that it’s okay to just be me and to worry about me, and that my happiness matters.”

My Happiness Matters

“And I think that’s probably the biggest thing that I’ve learned because I realize that I’m able to give better to people that I love, being happy and worrying about me and being me and being – and that is okay.”
