This looks awesome. Period. Director of the upcoming Alien sequel, Alien 5, Neill Blomkamp has just unveiled some concept art from the film, featuring the unforgettable Ellen Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) and Cpl. Dwayne Hicks (Michael Bien) in some sort of warehouse. The two are facing down what looks to be a soldier of some sorts, possibly employed by Weyland-Yutani Corporation.

We know that Hicks was presumed dead by Ripley in the Aliens 3, but if you followed the story that includes the game Aliens: Colonial Marines, Hicks had actually escaped, and Turk was the one Ripley had thought had burned in the crash, and Hicks was actually trying to rescue Ripley from being stranded on Fury 161. In the game, though, Hicks makes it back to the planet in time to see Ripley throw herself in a molten pit.

I know, a lot of geeky talk, but my point is this picture is making a lot more questions for me than answers in regards to: did he really survive from the Sulaco? Did he actually rescue Ripley? Who would willingly name their son Turk?

Neill Blomkamp will be directing a new Alien movie for 20th Century Fox which will act as a sequel to Ridley Scott’s 1979 Alien and James Cameron’s Aliens. Sigourney Weaver will reprise her role as Ellen Ripley and face the dreaded Xenomorph once again. Michael Biehn is also expected to reprise his role as Cpl. Dwayne Hicks.

Currently, no release date is set for Blomkamp’s Alien 5 however the plot for the film will take place well after the events of Ridley Scott’s Prometheus and its sequel and closer to the timeline between Aliens and Alien 3.

Alien and Prometheus director Ridley Scott will executive produce.

Directed by Neill Blomkamp, written by Neill Blomkamp and starring Sigourney Weaver, Michael Biehn, Alien 5 releases 2017.
