Best Picture – Trumbo. (it makes Hollywood out to be the good guy in the end, the voting body of The Academy are old white guys that were around during The Black List era, and we’ll see a lot of grandstanding of “I knew that HUAC thing was bunk!” it’ll be the Academy’s way of honoring the mistake of kowtowing to a Senate witch hunt that did nothing but ruin people’s lives. The main villain of the film was also a member of the press.)

Best Director – JJ Abrams (the Best Director & Best Film disparagement is like the Academy’s way of giving two best picture noms. Inaritu has NO CHANCE at winning it this year, with the hell he put the cast and crew through making Revenant which will go home relatively empty-handed. The Academy likes to reward good behavior and films with backlash never win.)

Best Actor – Bryan Cranston for Trumbo (this will induct Cranston into the EGOT club (with a Globe instead of a Grammy)

Best Actress – Brie Larson for Room. (i haven’t seen room, but based on her other films she deserves this)

Supporting Actor – Sylvester Stallone for Creed (he didn’t win for Rocky as a lead in the 70’s but he’ll win as old man Rocky)

Supporting Actress – Tessa Thompson for Creed (she’s a singer who’s going to eventually lose her hearing, that’s almost worth it’s own spin off film)

Adapted Screenplay – The Martian (Drew Goddard turned a technical manuscript into a hell of an interesting film.)

Original Screenplay – Straight Outta Compton (it’s got to get something)

Animated Feature – Inside Out. (i couldn’t stand it, i liked Hotel Transylvania 2, it was a less maudlin film if you ask me)

Best Cinematography – The Revenant (for as bad of a production it was, GOD DAMN that was some pretty cinema. Sidenote: Dear Quentin, 70mm is a bit over indulgent for a film that takes place in one room.)

Best Editing – (ACE Eddie winner here)

Best Documentary – The Look of Silence

Production Design – Mad Max

Costumes – Mad Max

Make Up – *Star Wars. But because The Academy NEVER gives the Make Up award to Genre films (Guardian of the Galaxy was ROBBED!) i’m going to say Concussion will get best make up just for making Albert Brooks look funny.

…Then a bunch of technical stuff I have no say on because I guess I have a tin ear.
