The Oscars are the biggest night in Hollywood; actors and filmmakers will take home the most prestigious award and honor for their hard work and dedication. However, the celebrations don’t end there- Oscar winners, nominees, and show presenters will be in attendance at the most extravangant official post-Oscar party, the Governors Ball.
Immediately following the awards, the stars will head over to the Ray Dolby Ballroom located in Hollywood and Highland for a night of glamour and luxury.
With 1,500 guests in attendance, the Governors Ball creative team has had a lot of preparation to do for the upcoming event.
This year’s ball theme highlights classic Hollywood and captures its glory through caricature-filled walls inspired by the iconic Brown Derby restaurants. Inside the ballroom you’ll find more than 170 original pieces of art, all handpicked by Jeffery Kurland, the Governors Ball chair. The caricatures spotlight icons of the past and present, like Marlene Dietrich, Alfred Hitchcock, Clint Eastwood, Angela Basset and Katharine Hepburn.
“They truly capture the energy and sheer joy of the evening’s celebration,” said Kurland, the Governors Ball chair.
Another integral part of the Ball’s decor will be all white flowers, which will be flown in at the last minute possible from all over the world including Japan, Mexico, Holland and South America- in order to ensure the freshest possible flowers.
Guests will not only be surrounded by charming art and exquisite flowers they will be surrounded with an array selection of more than fifty unique dishes all brought to them by the master chef, Wolfgang Puck.
“The best compliment is when people come two days after the Oscars and ask me ‘Hey Wolfgang do you still have the short ribs or the chicken pot pie?’ ” said Wolfgang Puck.
The menu highlights the event with colorful and tasty entrees, appetizers and dessert that fits in with vintage and contemporary glamour.
“There’s something for everybody and sometimes the simplest things like the mini burger is what everybody loves,” said Wolfgang Puck.
Some of the items you will find are mini burgers, smoked salmon, spicy tuna tartare, baked potato with caviar, baked macaroni and cheese, apple-celery root soup, and a poke, sushi and shellfish bar.
And for dessert, there will be chocolate buffet with macaroons, meringues, tiramisu push pops, dark chocolate brownies, coconut cupcakes, chocolate passion layer cake, banana ice cream, double chocolate cherry cookies and a whole lot more.
As for drinks, the list continues strong with over 2,400 bottles of Piper-Heidsieck Champagne, over 2,700 bottle of Sterling Vineyards Wines and 130bottles of Haig Club single grain Scotch whisky.
The decor and amounts of food and drinks is highly impressive. The 88th Oscars Governors Ball will be nothing short of spectacular and to give you a brief glimpse into the highly detailed event, below are some interesting facts about the Ball.
