LA Clippers Dance Squad

We asked several of the women on the “Clippers Spirit” dance team who are featured in the new series “L.A. Clippers Dance Squad” what we should know about them before watching the series. We found out that it takes heart and determination along with a lot of training to achieve your goals, even if you stumble a few times. They are inspirational and if you watch, we’re sure you’ll be motivated to go after your dreams too.

Tune in to see how they do from summer auditions to winning one of the team’s 20 spots. This is part one of two of our series featuring these women from the new series on E!.

5 Things to Know About Blair Kim

  1. Has been doing gymnastics since she was 3 years old and dreamt of becoming an Olympian Gold medalist but her mother’s fear of injury is what started her dance career.
  2. Has been dancing since she was 6 years old;ballet, tap, jazz and modern.
  3. Used to take two to three buses to get to her auditions all over LA.
  4. Dreams of using her dance platform to further career as an actor/singer.
  5. Believes Jennifer Lopez is a great example of what she would like to achieve in her career.

Blair Kim was born and raised in Los Angeles, she is not only a dancer but a lead singer in an all girl group. She describes herself as awesome, crafty and tough and has been on the LA Clippers Spirit Squad for 1 year.

5 Things To Know About Candace Washington

  1. Her career goal is to one day be a musical Broadway star.
  2. She has 3 jobs including performing at a Disneyland resort and coaching a college dance team.
  3. Started dancing at age 4.
  4. Her first dance class was ballet.
  5. When it comes to self doubt her motto is “Just Do It.”

Candace Washington,26, has been on the LA Clippers Spirit Squad for an on-going four years, and the past two years she has won the “Most Inspirational” award. She describes herself as positive, caring and intentional. She is a first born child, with three younger siblings following her and was raised in Torrance, California.

5 Things to Know About Savanna Reed

  • Her first dance class was Hip Hop. She started ballet until she was 14.
  • She did cheer-leading for one year in 7th grade.
  • Janet Jackson’s Velvet Rope Tour inspired her to become a dancer at age 7.
  • She tried out for the University of Memphis: Pom Squad but didn’t make it.
  • She encourages aspiring dancers to audition regardless of fear.

Savanna Reed, has been with the LA Clippers Spirit Squad for one year. Her hometown of Nashville, Tennessee does not stop In-N-Out Burger from being her favorite place to eat. She describes herself as spontaneous, positive and ambitious. Savannah hopes to one day become a choreographer.

About “L.A. Clippers Dance Squad” Premiering Tuesday, March 15 at 10pm ET/PT, following all-new episodes of “Total Divas” only on E!

“L.A. Clippers Dance Squad” gives fans an in-depth look at what it takes to be a member of an elite dance team in pro sports, on and off the court. From auditions and rehearsals to balancing personal challenges and professional ambitions, this docu-series shows what it really takes to make it to the floor of the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and dance for basketball fans while representing a high-profile, global brand.

The eight one-hour episodes will chronicle the lives of seven women, all of whom begin their journey by trying out for a spot on the “Clippers Spirit” dance team.  The series begins with the summer auditions, where fans will see these performers compete against hundreds of others vying for one of the team’s 20 spots, and will follow them throughout their rigorous season with new Creative Director Petra Pope at the helm. Petra has an extensive resume in pro basketball, having led dance teams of the NBA’s Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks and Brooklyn Nets in the past. She’s now moved back to Los Angeles to revamp the Clippers’ dance squad and take it to the next level.
