Question: How did you get involved with this project?

Brianne Davis told us… The old fashion way, I auditioned for the part of Lena Graves. My favorite casting peeps Junie Lowry Johnson and Libby Goldstein brought me in for a producers session to meet the director and writers of “Six”. I had to go in for it twice and read the scenes about 20 different ways each time, it was absolutely amazing. You don’t normally get that much time in the room with the writers, producers and directors. So when you are allowed to play and explore with the creative team and to be giving direction, it’s the best artist high for an actor. I’m truly grateful for that experience and being able to play Lena.

Question: What research did you do for your role?

Brianne Davis told us… I read a lot of articles about the Navy Seals, their duties, what family life is like for them and the wives. The biggest part though, I talked with a Navy Seal wife of 20 plus years. Getting to ask her the most personal questions about her marriage and her life. She was completely open to answering all of them.

Question: What things have you learned about portraying a military spouse that surprised you?

Brianne Davis told us… I learned that to make marriages work in the Armed Forces, especially the Navy Seals, you have to be both very strong and independent. A lot of the Navy Seals wives have careers themselves. They take care of their children like a single parent would and hold down the fort while their man goes off on these extremely dangerous missions. They don’t know what they are doing and where they are going and if they are coming home. The family definitely sacrifices a lot for our country just like the Seals do. I am beyond honored to portray them and I hope to make them proud.

Question: Where did you film this series?

Brianne Davis told us… We filmed for about 5 months in Wilmington, NC. It’s was a extremely hot summer for sure and hard to be away from our own home but that really made the cast and crew become so close and we were like our own little family.

Question: What was it like to work with your cast? Any funny set stories to share?

Brianne Davis told us… Well, I worked mostly with Barry Sloane who plays Joe “Bear” Graves, my husband. He is a truly a dream to work with and one of the best scene partners. We had so many intense scenes together that we really leaned on one another for support through them. We even made each other soundtracks for our characters.

But the most fun and best scenes were with the whole cast.

There was so much teasing and laughter during the takes that they always had to tell us to stop right before we started to roll camera. For instance my girl, Nadine Velazquez, who plays the other main Seal wife, Jackie Ortiz, was in the restroom and there was all of us plus 50 extras waiting of her to get out and come shoot. When she walked in the room, everyone started cheering and clapping that she arrived. Beyond hilarious which she took in stride by waving and shaking people’s hands.

Question: What do you hope audiences get out of watching this series?

Brianne Davis told us…  I hope the audience really falls in love with these characters especially with the aspect of the struggles within the families of the Seals. We pride ourselves on creating an authentic look inside the real lives of these brave men and their loved ones. And I really hope we make the Seal community proud.

Question: Tell us about your USO tours

Brianne Davis told us… I did 2 tours in the middle east in 2008 and 2009 to Iraq and Afghanistan. It was one of the best things I have experienced in my life. And giving back to the soldiers anyway I can is very important to me since my own father served in Vietnam.

Question: What are some of your other passions, we know you have a production company and have done some directing and writing… what do you have in the works that you want to share with us?

Brianne Davis told us… Yes, I love to direct and produce movies with my husband, Mark Gantt. We started a production company Give and Take Productions and we have a tv series that we are pitching now that Mark created called Cul-De-Sac. I am also attached to direct a film called A Place Apart written by an amazing writer Jackie Blakely. Other than that, I love cooking and doing jigsaw puzzles. In a sense, I am a true homebody when I’m not traveling and working. I just love staying in and hanging with my pups.
