The $35-million horror film focuses on an evil child killing clown, Pennywise as he haunts the children in Derry, Maine.

Director Muschietti is said to have assembled an impressive young cast to play the preteen misfits dubbed the Losers’ Club.

The club is led by Midnight Special star, Jaeden Lieberher as Bill Denbrough, whose younger brother George is one of Pennywise’s first victims. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard plays Richie Tozier, Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben Hanscombe, Sophia Lillis, the solo girl in the group as Beverley Marsh, Wyatt Olef as Stan Uris, Chosen Jacobs as Mike Hanlon and Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie Kasbrak.

Although many are familiar with the storyline based on having read the 1000+ paged book or been scarred for life of clowns and red balloons by the 1990 adaption, the film is said to have kept the essence of the book. More so, it is believed to have struck the right balance of nostalgia and fright.

When the trailer was first launched back in March, it received huge viewing ratings and in fact broke the record for the most views in a single day.

Critics also chimed in on social media offering positive feedback to the film’s director, Andrés Muschietti.

Entertainment Weekly’s Anthony Breznican said “I think it’s one of the finest Stephen King adaptations ever made.”

While as The New York Times’ A.O. Scott said “The new movie, a skillful blend of nostalgic sentiment and hair-raising effects, with the visual punch of big-screen digital hocus-pocus and the liberties of the R rating, still has the soothing charm of familiarity.”

Stephen King also tweeted praise to the director by commenting “Andy Muschietti’s remake of IT (actually it’s Part 1–The Losers’ Club) succeeds beyond my expectations. Relax. Wait. And enjoy.”

The cast also received raving reviews as Brian Truitt from USA Today commented “The infamous clown is plenty freaky, though it’s the youngsters, bursting with hormones and one-liners, who make It one of the better Stephen King adaptations.”

The question now is, are you willing to relive your childhood nightmare and float into a cinema near you to visit your old terror, Pennywise?
