“We missed John Luther. We missed some old friends. And we wanted to make the biggest, scariest, darkest, most thrilling series of Luther there’s ever been. So that’s what we’ve come back to do,” saidEmmy®-nominated writer and series creator Neil Cross.
Cast members joining Golden Globe and SAG-Award-winning actor (Molly’s Game, Thor: Ragnarok, The Dark Tower) Idris Elba are Dermot Crowley (Hard Sun), Michael Smiley (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) and Patrick Malahide(Game of Thrones) will also return as DSU Martin Schenk, Benny Silver and George Cornelius.
A new recruit to the team is BAFTA Award-winning actress Wunmi Mosaku (Black Mirror), will join as D.S. Catherine Halliday.
What’s in store this season?
The trailer for the fifth season of the BBC crime drama Luther is set to an eerie downtempo rendition of “Toxic” by Britney Spears and follows Detective John Luther (Idris Elba) and D.S. Catherine Halliday (Wunmi Mosaku) as they team up to solve the brutal murders taking place around London.
And what else did the trailer reveal? There’s a brief appearance from the past, Alice Morgan (Ruth Wilson). Is there a reunion between Luther and Morgan coming? We’ll have to watch… right?
