Daybreak Games revealed last week at San Diego Comic-Con that DC Universe Online, the free-to-play massively multiplayer online (MMO) for the Nintendo Switch, is set to launch on August 6.

For the first time ever, players will be able to experience a true MMO on the Switch. DC Universe Online lets players create their own unique character from more than 300 available customization options and experience the expansive world of DC Universe Online on-the-go.

Play as Batman, Wonder Woman, The Joker and more in the huge open worlds of Gotham City and Metropolis, dive into Atlantis or check out the latest Justice League Dark content. DC Comics fans are free to explore more than 30 iconic universes.

Daybreak Games also revealed DC Universe Online’s two new episodes Metal Part 1 and Metal Part II are to be released in September and December respectively.

In Metal Part I, Batman has breached the barrier between our world and the Dark Multiverse, and then disappeared. In through the breach storm the Dark Nights, twisted versions of Batman hell-bent on revenge. In Metal Part II, the saga of the Dark Nights, the Dark Multiverse, and Metal will come to an explosive conclusion.

DC Universe Online will be free to download on Switch but will require a Nintendo Switch Online subscription to play.
