This is probably the best news any “The Witcher” fan might get this year. By the end of 2019, the fantasy book series “the Witcher” will be adapted as an original Netflix series as announced on May 2017. The novels had already been adapted as a video game as well as comic books, now it is time to give “Game of Thrones” a bit of competition. The trailer has already received about 500K views in just two months.
The choice of cast will not disappoint fans. Henry Cavill ( Man of Steel, The Amazing Spiderman, Stardust) plays the cold, melancholic role of Geralt of Rivia, Freya Allan (The Third Day, Gunpowder Milkshake) as Ciri, Joey Batey (Wolf Hall, Bring up the Bodies to the West End, Broadway) as Jaskier, MyAnna Buring as Tissaia, Tom Canton (Farming, The Good Karma Hospital, The Picture of Dorian Gray) as Filavandrel, Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust, The ABC Murders) as Yennefer, Eamon Farren (Chained, Winchester, Twin Peaks: The Return) as Cahir, Bjorn Hlynur Haraldsson (Reykjavik Guesthouse: Rent a Bike, King’s Road, The Cliff) as Eist, Adam Levy (Knightfall, Snatch, Supergirl) as Mousesack, Jodhi May (A World Apart, Sister My Sister, Tipping the Velvet) as Queen Calanthe and many other renowned actors.
Based on the novel series by Polish author Andrzej Sapkowski, the TV series revolves around Geralt of Rivia who has been honed and trained to be a monster hunter and hence known as a witcher. The magic in his system and his cold hunger for death often makes him hesitant while helping others. He is an odd fit in the human race. Nevertheless, little did he know that his own species is far more vicious than the beasts he had killed.
The worst monsters are the ones we create.
