Today during PlayStation’s latest State of Play stream, Naughty Dog showed off more of the upcoming The Last of Us Part II. While the game is only a little less than a month away, players were given a lot of new details to which Neil Druckmann of Naughty Dog claims were just “scratching the surface of the game”.

  • The Last of Us Part 2 picks up several years after the events of the first game after they settle in the relatively peaceful settlement in Jackson, Wyoming.
  • Ellie is 19 at the start of the game, but some flashback sequences appear to fill in some gaps.
  • The game will take place over multiple seasons and climates, from the snow-capped mountains of Jackson to the lush Pacific Northwest.
  • Naughty Dog has put great detail into recreating the real cities the maps are based on. Seattle will be another location Ellie visits on her journey.
  • Two factions fight for control of the city.
  • Along with jumping, Ellie will be able to use ropes to traverse a more open and expansive map or find hidden secrets.
  • Horses and boats will also help Ellie traverse the larger maps.

Everything shown during state of play focused on the human enemies you’ll encounter but did mention the infected would play a big role in the game and new more vicious versions of the monsters would debut.

THE LAST OF US PART II launches exclusively on Sony PlayStation 4 systems on June 19, 2020.
