big shot

The RCR News Media team with host, Stephanie Piche, were on hand for cast interviews with the new Disney+ show, “Big Shot” which will begin streaming on Friday, April 16th.

Big Shot starring John Stamos premieres April 16th on Disney Plus

We screened the first three episodes of the new series, which hit close to home as the story is about a top NCAA basketball coach who finds himself so wrapped up in sports that he has allowed it create a high level of stress that he explodes during a game and finds himself out – literally. Trying to get back the career he lost, he finds himself at a private girls school coaching the team. Let’s just say, it’s a rough start for him.

The cast is comprised of some major talent with John Stamos (who admittedly IRL doesn’t sport), Yvette Nicole Brown (who admits that her character is toned down), and Jessalyn Gilsig (who is a pro at both acting and being a sports parent). The Sirens are admittedly, not basketball stars, but prior to shooting the series, the cast were put through some rigorous training and gained some mad skills as you will see in the series. The Siren basketball team are Tiana Le, Tisha Custodio, Cricket Wampler, Nell Verlaque, and Monique Green, all of which are so very talented!

Watch our Interviews and tune in to watch “Big Shot” on April 16!

About Big Shot

After getting ousted from his job in the NCAA for throwing a chair at a referee, a hothead men’s basketball coach Marvyn Korn must take a job at Westbrook School for Girls, a private all-girls high school, in an effort to redeem what’s left of his career and reputation. At first, Marvyn sees the Westbrook players as just X’s and O’s, as a mere pitstop on his road back to college ball. At the same time, the girls don’t take themselves seriously as a team, and the Westbrook community as a whole is nothing but hostile toward him. The unemotional and stoic Marvyn Korn soon learns that teenage girls are complicated human beings who require more than just tough love and two-a-days — they need real mentorship and genuine care. By discovering how to connect with his players and by cultivating more empathy and vulnerability, Coach Korn starts to grow into the man he’s always secretly hoped to be… and the father he never had. Meanwhile, the girls learn to take themselves more seriously, rising to Marvyn’s standards of excellence and finding their footing both on and off the court.
