It’s almost here. Today, PlayStation showed off the first captured gameplay from the upcoming Horizon: Forbidden West. Among the new features were new traversal mechanics. Aloy can now glide through the air on a hang glider and swing to further ledges using a grapple.

The enemies will also be more evolved as in Forbidden West, enemies can now override the dangerous machines and use them in combat. You’ll also face tons of new machines in the ruins of San Francisco. Sunwings in the sky, Clawstriders and Tremortusks on land, Snapmaws and the smaller (yet not to be underestimated) Burrowers in the water. That’s only the beginning, as many more will be revealed throughout the massive open world of Horizon Forbidden WestYou can check out gameplay in the video below.

In the State of Play gameplay footage, Aloy has sent her loyal friend Erend into the remains of San Francisco to recover an important artifact. But he quickly runs into trouble, encountering a rebel faction of the Tenakth tribe – vicious fighters who have somehow acquired the power to override machines. Aloy must cross the ruins and fight multiple enemies to rescue her friend and continue her journey.

Aloy will also have new tricks in combat such as glue bombs to slow down large enemies and melee finishing moves using her staff. No release date was mentioned during Sony’s “State Of Play” presentation but the game is “on track” and expected to launch sometime this year.
