As you start taking part in gift exchanges and shopping for your loved ones don’t forget to pick something up to pass your days off where you just don’t want to leave the house. The best way to do that? Video Games. Here are our picks for what you should be looking for as the shopping season starts and where the best games will be on sale for Black Friday.

Marvel Guardians Of The Galaxy

For a game that was announced the same year it came out, Marvel GOTG from Eidos Montreal/Square Enix came out of nowhere to shatter expectations and deliver one of the best original Marvel stories in 2021. This 3rd person action shooter lets you lead the galaxy’s mightiest misfits as Star-Lord Peter Quill. You’ll enjoy the design and superior gameplay but the way a stable of banger licensed music tracks are used in-game will make it a contender for your favorite title of the year.

Currently $29.99 at select retailers and part of Target’s Black Friday for $30

Mass Effect Legendary Edition

If you’re looking for a game to take up your entire winter break then look no further than EA/Bioware’s Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Collecting the first three Mass Effect games, you’ll once again steer the narrative course of Commander Shepard’s actions through the galaxy. The game features tons of upgraded visuals and all the content released after launch. It’s a perfect game to pick up if you’ve never played the action RPG many had on their game of the year lists when it was originally released. Even if you have played it, the Legendary Edition’s upgrades combined with the speed of next-gen make it worth taking the trip through memory lane.

Find Mass Effect Legendary Edition for $25 at Walmart during BF.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer

I hate it, yet I can’t put it down. While I’ve never been a diehard fan of the Master Chief’s exploits in the Halo series, since the release of Halo Infinite Multiplayer I’ve become addicted to its Unreal Tournament style action. With Call of Duty Vanguard being missable and Battlefield 2042 needing some post-launch work in order to truly recommend it, that leaves a gap that’s become filled with the engaging multiplayer action of Halo Infinite. While the single-player campaign launches on December 8; the free multiplayer part of the game is available now.

Halo Infinite Multiplayer is free to download on Xbox and Steam.

Life Is Strange: True Colors

Life Is Strange has become a franchise for Square Enix. As with all franchises, it either grows or gets stale. Developer, Deck Nine games introduce new characters continuing the supernatural story-driven world of LIS. In True Colors, you’ll play as a troubled young girl named Alex Chen trying to start a new life in a middle of nowhere colorado town. When her brother is killed in a mysterious accident you’ll use Alex’s empathic powers to bring down an evil corporation unlocking a dangerous history of the town you’re in along the way. If you love great stories in games, LIS True Colors should definitely be on your list.

Life Is Strange True Colors is on sale for $34.99 during Target’s Black Friday week.

NHL 22

What winter break would be complete without some hard-hitting hockey? While EA has released its usual sports lineup with solid offerings from FIFA and Madden, it’s NHL 22 that is the standout sports title. The game features the standard exhibition, season, and create a player mode to begin a journey towards the Stanley Cup. This year the additional modes bring an extra level of fun as you and your friends can play three-way pond hockey like a gd Mighty Duck about to meet Gordon Bombay.

While I wish it was cheaper you can pick up Madden 22, FIFA 22, and NHL 22 at Best Buy for $39.99 during Black Friday week.

Mario Kart Live

This pick is cheating a bit as I was trying to keep this list to 2021 releases but out of all the Nintendo Switch game deals this week, MK Live was by far the best deal. Black Friday is the perfect time to jump on the Mario Kart Live gimmick. The set has not been this cheap ever at $60. You’ll get to turn your house into a living Mario Kart track as you use the Nintendo Switch in handheld mode to annoy your family with Mario driving around your living room. Don’t forget to start a TikTok account of your pets ruining your game for additional money.

Mario Kart Live is $59.99 at Target during Black Friday

Back 4 Blood

The spiritual successor of the Left 4 Dead franchise B4B satisfies the need for multiplayer popcorn action. Lots of guns to obliterate thousands of zombies means you and four friends are in for an action-packed night of yelling at each other. The game is challenging as you ramp up the difficulty but it never gives you that sense of smashing a controller frustration. While the versus mode isn’t all that great the co-op campaign more than makes up for it.

Back 4 Blood will be $25 as part of Walmart Black Friday
