Fans get Terry O’Quinn’s return as the alien hunter for SYFY’s Resident Alien starring Alan Tudyk. Today’s NBCU media presentation opened with a sizzle reel of the remaining season two episodes before the August 10 premiere.

In season two of Resident Alien, Harry (Alan Tudyk) is once again stranded on Earth where he must confront the consequences of having failed his people’s mission to destroy the human race. The second half of Season two picks up in the immediate aftermath of the shocking action Asta (Sara Tomko) took to save Harry’s life. They must deal with the emotional fallout of the night all while searching for the alien baby – a search that leads to big realizations for each of them. Meanwhile, Sheriff Mike (Corey Reynolds) and Deputy Liv (Elizabeth Bowen) solve a big case, Ben (Levi Fiehler) attempts to sell Patience on a new resort, and D’arcy (Alice Wetterlund) fights the challenge of a lifetime.

Season two’s midpoint break was due in large part to second-half episodes needing to be finished in post-production. The cast and creator felt the adjustment of the break worked for the storytelling structure of season two and audiences will be happy with the way it ramps up in the final half of the season.

For season three, creator/executive producer Chris Sheridan revealed it would be twelve episodes without a split. Instead of season two’s gap telling two big arcs the next season will be a single arc with subplots told through the entire season. He mentioned during the media call that the show has developed new ideas as it progressed and having seen characters’ chemistry on screen that wasn’t initially thought of in the early days.

Resident Alien returns to SYFY on August 10 10/9c with episodes available to stream on Peacock
