Apple’s upcoming thriller “Hijack,” starring and executive produced by Idris Elba, debuts traile

Apple TV+ has revealed the trailer for “Hijack,” an upcoming thrilling series featuring Idris Elba, who also serves as an executive producer. The high-octane seven-part show, created by George Kay and Jim Field Smith, showcases their talents as the writers and lead director respectively. Joining the cast is Archie Panjabi, an Emmy Award and NAACP Image Award winner.

The series is set to premiere on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, on Apple TV+, with the first two episodes launching together, followed by weekly releases until August 2.

Set in real-time, “Hijack” takes viewers on a tense journey aboard a hijacked plane as it heads towards London during a seven-hour flight. Meanwhile, authorities on the ground race against the clock to find answers. Idris Elba portrays the character of Sam Nelson, a skilled negotiator from the business world who must employ all his cunning to save the lives of the passengers. However, his risky strategy could have dire consequences. Archie Panjabi plays Zahra Gahfoor, a counter-terrorism officer involved in the investigation after the plane is hijacked. The series also features an ensemble cast including Christine Adams, Max Beesley, Eve Myles, Neil Maskell, Jasper Britton, Harry Michell, Aimee Kelly, Mohamed Elsandel, and Ben Miles.

Produced by 60Forty Films, the production company established by Emmy Award-winning Executive Producers Jamie Laurenson and Hakan Kousetta, in collaboration with Apple TV+, “Hijack” marks the first series to emerge from Idris Elba’s first-look deal with the streaming service and his production company, Green Door Pictures. George Kay and Jim Field Smith, in addition to their writing and directing roles, serve as executive producers alongside Idris Elba, Jamie Laurenson, Hakan Kousetta, and Kris Thykier.
