Actor and writer Bob Odenkirk is here to help kick off a summer of reading with the SAG-AFTRA Foundation’s global children’s literacy program Storyline Online®. Odenkirk, known for his roles in television classics such as Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, and Mr. Show, has also been nominated for 11 Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Odenkirk read Donna W. Earnhardt’s beloved children’s book Being Frank for Storyline Online. The book tells the story of a young boy named Frank who is always honest, even when it hurts people’s feelings. Frank’s honesty gets him into trouble at school and with his friends, so he decides to visit his grandfather Ernest for advice. Grandpa Ernest is also a very honest man, but he has learned how to be honest without being hurtful. He teaches Frank that it is important to be honest, but it is also important to be kind.

Odenkirk’s reading of Being Frank is full of his signature humor and heart. He brings the characters to life and makes the story relatable to children of all ages. Being Frank is a great book for teaching children about the importance of honesty and kindness. It is also a lot of fun to read!

The SAG-AFTRA Foundation has created a supplemental activity guide for teachers that can be used in conjunction with Being Frank. The guide includes activities that align with Common Core Standards and can help students strengthen their verbal, written, and comprehension skills.

Being Frank is a great read-aloud for children in grades 1-3. It is a fun, heartwarming story that teaches important lessons about honesty and kindness.
