The long speculation, rumors, and unverified leaks have all led to Rockstar games announcing the next iteration of Gran Theft Auto would return players to the vibrant lights and Miami nights esthetic of Vice City. The publisher announced Grand Theft Auto VI will release sometime in 2025 and now 2024 already feels like the longest year.

The trailer shows off tons of high quality visual fidelity which the developers have the practice to achieve from all the upgrades we’ve seen through the various releases across different console generations of Grand Theft Auto V. Players also get their first look at one of the main protagonists of the game, “Lucia”, a paroled criminal seeking fortune in Vice City. The narrative appears to follow a Bonnie & Clyde style story with her yet to be named partner. There’s also no word on if characters will be instantly switchable as they were in GTA V. So far we only know the game’s map will be set in the state of Leonida, Rockstar’s version of the state of Florida.

Grand Theft Auto VI releases in 2025 and is so far confirmed as a current-gen only game for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
