Microsoft Gaming CEO Phil Spencer will participate in the Storytime opening session to kick off the festivities at PAX West 2024 at the Seattle Convention Center on August 30.

Spencer will take the Main Stage on Friday, August 30, for an entertaining and informative look behind the scenes of his illustrious career with more than 30 years of experience in gaming, tech and entertainment. In his current role as Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Gaming, Spencer leads Microsoft’s global interactive entertainment business, spanning a range of legendary brands including Xbox, Activision, Bethesda, Blizzard Entertainment, King, and Xbox Game Studios.

“Phil Spencer is at the center of something unprecedented with Microsoft Gaming,” said Jerry Holkins, co-founder of Penny Arcade and PAX. “It’s a tremendous responsibility. I can’t wait to find out what the industry looks like from where he’s sitting.”

This news comes on the heels of Xbox touting a huge presence at the upcoming Gamescom show in Germany later this summer and their W at Summer Game Fest earlier in June. While PAX has quickly become the hybrid fan/industry gaming event E3 always wanted to be, Spencer’s appearance also comes on the heels of a year where Microsoft closed fan favorite game studios. What will Microsoft’s presence at the event be like leading into a fall and then holiday season where they need to stick the landing on the promises made during SGF?

PAX West happens Labor Day weekend August 30-September 2 2024.
