In this day and age, you can’t make a movie, TV show or video game without sound (you can but why?)… This was another busy weekend in award season and the following update is for this year’s Golden Reel Awards.
At a black-tie ceremony held at the Bonaventure Hotel in Los Angeles, the Motion Picture Sound Editors held their 62nd MPSE Golden Reel Awards honoring outstanding achievement in sound editing in 20 categories from feature films, long-form and short-form television, animation, documentaries and other media.

- Darren Aronofsky received the MPSE Filmmaker Award from Supervising Sound Editor Craig Henighan
- Skip Lievsay, Supervising Sound Editor received the Career Achievement award from Re-Recording Mixer Greg Orloff
- Supervising sound editors Glenn T. Morgan and Mandell Winter presented the Verna Fields Award for Sound Editing in Student Films and the Ethel Crutcher Scholarship Award to students from Savannah College of Art and Design
