At this years 29th Annual ASC Awards held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Century City honoring the art and science of cinematography.

Honorees

  • Barbra Streisand was honored with the ASC Board of Governors Award which is given to a person who has advanced the art and craft of filmmaking,
  • John Bailey received the cinematographers’ Lifetime Achievement Award from Lawrence Kasdan
  • The Career Achievement in Television Award, was Bill Roe (Castle, X-Files)
  • The International Award was bestowed upon Phil Méheux (Casino Royale)
  • The Presidents Award was given to Matthew F. Leonetti (Poltergeist)
  • The Bud Stone Award which honors distinguished service to the ASC was given to Denny Clairmont and Otto Nemenz

Streisand praised the cameramen she worked with over the years, from   Harry Stradling on her first film Funny Girl (1968), Gordon Willis on Up The Sandbox (1972) and James Wong Howe on Funny Lady (1975) and especially the cameramen who never said “no” to a request or that they couldn’t do it.

John Bailey’s work spans over forty years and includes American Gigolo, The Big Chill, Groundhog Day, As Good As It Gets, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, The Way Way Back, and A Walk In The Woods.
