Mingle Media TV and our Red Carpet Report host, Kristyn Burtt, were invited to come out to cover the 19th Costume Designers Guild Awards at the Beverly Hilton Hotel hosted by actress Mandy Moore and presented by LACOSTE.
Highlights from the event
- Mandy Moore, host, opened the evening by welcoming the audience to the “Meryl Streep Ballroom,” a nod to Streep’s Golden Globe Awards speech that took place on the very same stage last month
- Christopher Nolan surprised Dianne Wiest to present Jeffrey Kurland with the Career Achievement Award. Danny DeVito and Woody Allen sent video messages to congratulate the legendary costume designer
- James Corden shared a story about the first time he met honoree, Meryl Streep, his “Into the Woods” co-star, with the Distinguished Collaborator Award and had the crowd in tears / laughter
- Meryl Streep shared that her mother inspired her to major in costume design
- “Grace & Frankie” stars Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin went off script and kept the crowd laughing during their presentation of the Excellence in Period Film category
