Since it was first announced at E3 2016, Death Stranding has been Sony’s looming enigma. Being developed by legendary game creator Hideo Kojima (Metal Gear Solid) and his new studio, Death Stranding has shown off tons of cinematic oddities with very little in the way of gameplay or concrete story details. Today’s 9-minute long trailer extravaganza released by Sony and Kojima Productions gives us the most extensive look thus far at the game. The footage leaves fans with more questions and only one answer. The game will release on November 8, 2019. Everything else is still WTF.

Death Stranding features an all-star cast led by Norman Reedus (The Walking Dead), Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal, Doctor Strange), and Lindsay Wagner (Bionic Woman). In the game, Reedus plays Sam Bridges a courier of a dark future where America and the world are on the brink of extinction. Sony describes the genre-defying experience in the following press release:

Sam Bridges must brave a world transformed by the Death Stranding. Carrying the remnants of our future in his hands, he embarks on a mission to reunite the shattered world. With spectral creatures plaguing the landscape, and humanity on the verge of a mass extinction, it’s up to Sam to journey across the ravaged continent and save mankind from impending annihilation.

DEATH STRANDING will release exclusively on PlayStation 4, November 8, 2019. Pre-orders are available at most retailers.
