This year marks the 50th anniversary of man’s first steps on the moon. Starting July 10th, Apollo 11 The Immersive Live Show begins it’s 18 city tour to commemorate the event at the all-new Lunar Dome in Pasadena.
Built exclusively for this show, the purpose-built venue will feature 20 actors performing under 40,000 square feet of magnificent 360-degree video projection with the backing of a live orchestra score and life-size rockets.
The audience will be treated to an amazing journey to the moon and back as the show outlines the 400,000 individuals it took to achieve this accomplishment through the eyes of retired NASA Aerospace Engineer, Ben. He was there when it all went down and recounts his experience with smart device obsessed granddaughter Sydney.
The cast and producers informed me that what will make this story unique will be not only the grand scale of the events of the moon landing but also the intricate details of how people interacted. Not every communication had between Mission Control and the astronauts was technical speak. People talked gossip, current events and how their baseball team was doing as well. In addition to the awe-inspiring visuals, the human connection is going to be highlighted.
The show is set to launch July 10th at the Lunar Dome located at the Rose Bowl. It will run until August 5th with Orange County and Houston to follow. Additional cities will be announced. Tickets start at $45 and are sure to go fast.
