The 71st Annual ACE Eddie Awards presented by American Cinema Editors (ACE) announced this year’s winners LIVE during their virtual awards ceremony recognizing outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television and documentaries.
Honorees
- Lynzee Klingman, ACE and Sidney Wolinsky, ACE received Career Achievement Awards for their outstanding contributions to film editing. “Just look at their incredible bodies of work,” stated ACE president Kevin Tent, ACE. “Lynzee and Sidney have cut some of our favorite and most iconic movies and television shows. We’re thrilled to recognize these two extraordinary editors, their hard work and their amazing careers.”
- ACE Golden Eddie Filmmaker Of The Year Award was presented to Academy Award® Winner, Spike Lee Prolific filmmaker, Spike Lee was recognized as a filmmaker who exemplifies distinguished achievement in the art and business of film. His prolific film career was highlighted throughout the show with tributes from Leslie Odom Jr., Jodie Foster, his long-time editing collaborators Barry Alexander Brown, ACE, Adam Gough, ACE, Nancy Novack, Sam Pollard and others. Satchel Lee, his daughter, accepted the honor on his behalf.

Presenters during the event included Seth Meyers, Oscar® nominee for Best Actor Riz Ahmed and Jeremy Lee Stone (“Sound of Metal”), Catherine O’Hara (“Schitt’s Creek”), Oscar® nominees Carey Mulligan and Emerald Fennell (“Promising Young Woman”), Oscar® nominated filmmaker Aaron Sorkin (“The Trial of the Chicago 7”), actor Brett Goldsteinand actor/co-creator Brendan Hunt (“Ted Lasso”), Oscar® nominee Leslie Odom Jr. (“One Night in Miami”), actors Mandy Moore and Jon Huertas (“This Is Us”) and the youngest stars of the Oscar® nominated film “Minari” Noel Cho and Alan S. Kim. The cast of “Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist” including Jane Levy, Mary Steenburgen, Skylar Astin, Alex Newell and John Clarence Stewart hosted the ceremony while the President of American Cinema Editors, Kevin Tent, ACE presided over the festivities.

American Cinema Editors (ACE) is an honorary society of motion picture editors founded in 1950. Film editors are voted into membership on the basis of their professional achievements, their dedication to the education of others and their commitment to the craft of editing.
The objectives and purposes of the AMERICAN CINEMA EDITORS are to advance the art and science of the editing profession; to increase the entertainment value of motion pictures by attaining artistic preeminence and scientific achievement in the creative art of editing; to bring into close alliance those editors who desire to advance the prestige and dignity of the editing profession.
ACE produces several annual events including EditFest (an international editing festival), Invisible Art/Visible Artists (the annual panel of Oscar® nominated editors), and the ACE Eddie Awards, now in its 71st year, recognizing outstanding editing in 14 categories of film, television and documentaries. The organization publishes a quarterly magazine, CinemaEditor, highlighting the art, craft and business of editing and editors.
