On Thursday, PlayStation announced a handful of new games for its PSVR platform and gave a big update on one I’ve been waiting for since I first had the chance to play it at E3 2019. Rebellion’s Sniper Elite VR will immerse players in the boots of an Italian Partisan, rising with your brothers and sisters to protect your homeland from the fascist forces that threaten to destroy your homeland.

The game will utilize two ways to play. Most interesting is the use of the PSVR Aim Controller. When you lift the Aim and steady yourself to fire, you find yourself holding your breath and squeezing the trigger slowly. You’ll need to resist the urge to air machine gun as you hold the controller’s weird plumbing contraption feel.

With the PS Move controllers, you’ll manually feed a new clip of ammo and action the bolt of a Carcano rifle or slap a fresh magazine into a Sten — or, if John Woo is more your style, dual-wield a pair of Colt 1911s.

No Rebellion game would be complete without Sniper Elite’s uncanny X-ray cam that allows you to see a bullet obliterate the bones and internal organs of your enemies. It’s going to be interesting to see how this plays out to those motion-sensitive gamers out there. The feature can be disabled in the options as part of the game’s accessibility but Rebellion has mentioned fine tuning the system for performance. We’ll see if that helps motion as well.

Sniper Elite VR comes to PlayStation VR on July 8.
