“City on Fire”

Apple TV+ presented the exclusive New York screening of “City on Fire,” a highly anticipated Apple Original drama inspired by Garth Risk Hallberg’s acclaimed novel of the same name.

The event took place at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in Downtown Brooklyn. The eight-episode series, written and executive produced by Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage, made its debut with a special screening attended by a star-studded ensemble cast.

The global premiere of “City on Fire” will be on AppleTV+ on May 12, with the first three episodes, followed by subsequent episodes airing every Friday until June 16, 2023.

A college student is shot in Central Park on July 4, 2003. The investigation connects a series of mysterious citywide fires, the downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown reel estate family fraying under the strain of the many secrets they keep.

The cast of “City on Fire” includes talented actors such as Wyatt Oleff, Chase Sui Wonders, Jemima Kirke, Nico Tortorella, Ashley Zukerman, Xavier Clyde, Max Milner, Alexandra Doke, Omid Abtahi, Kathleen Munroe, and John Cameron Mitchell. The captivating drama explores a compelling storyline, revolving around a tragic incident that occurs in Central Park on the Fourth of July, 2003. Samantha, an NYU student, becomes a victim of a shooting, leaving behind no witnesses and scarce physical evidence. As the investigation progresses, it becomes evident that Samantha’s fate intertwines with a series of mysterious fires occurring throughout the city, the vibrant downtown music scene, and a wealthy uptown real estate family harboring numerous secrets.

Chase Sui Wonders takes on the role of Samantha, while Wyatt Oleff portrays Charlie, Samantha’s friend who is haunted by his father’s death in the September 11 attacks two years prior. Determined to uncover the truth about Samantha’s shooting, Charlie embarks on a relentless pursuit of justice.

“City on Fire” is a production of Apple Studios exclusively for Apple TV+. Schwartz and Savage, known for their previous work on acclaimed shows, have written all eight episodes and also serve as showrunners and executive producers through their production company, Fake Empire. The series features the directorial talent of Jesse Peretz, who helms four episodes and serves as an executive producer. Lis Rowinski, from Fake Empire, is the co-executive producer of the series.

The series will premiere alongside highly anticipated Apple Originals also set to make their global debut this winter and spring on Apple TV+, including “Truth Be Told” season three, “Dear Edward,” “Hello Tomorrow!,” “The Big Door Prize,” “Schmigadoon!” season two, “Liaison,” “The Reluctant Traveler” and more.
