With the cancellation of the E3 announced a few weeks ago, studios and developers have shifted to making their big game announcements to the returning digital platform Summer Game Fest. While SGF is an encompassing initiative that promotes upcoming showcases from companies such as Xbox and Ubisoft, it is highlighted by the Thursday, June 8 (Noon PT / 3p ET / 9p CEST) live showcase event hosted by Geoff Keighley from YouTube Theater in LA.
As we approach June, several reports have been published that seemingly point to major announcements such as the Mortal Kombat reboot from Netherrealm and the rumored partnership between –Sony and Konami– on a new Metal Gear game. If true, these would all likely be featured as part of the slew of announcements set to come out of SGF.
