The Boys (2019)

As comic book nerds, we have all had our deepest fantasies come to life through TV and cinema in the past decade or so. Some of our favorite superheroes have come to life. Our favorite supervillains have won Oscars. It has all happened.

But Amazon Prime’s ‘The Boys’ brought about what we can call a different perspective on the world’s saviors. With the show rated 8.9 on IMDb, we can safely say it’s a hit.

Few shows have taken off so well in TV history, and this show’s unique storyline plus some superb acting and direction has most certainly made it, the most exciting superhero show to watch, currently (Team Flash and Supergirl need to up their standards already).

Oh and btw, if you need a recap of what happened in the show’s first season, here is your recap:

So, what is Season 2 Gonna be Like?

It’s gonna be awesome, that’s what it’s gonna be if you ask us. *fingers crossed*

We expect the show to be as awesome as it already has been, to say the least. Do not be fooled by the teasers that have rushed to launch The Boys showrunner, Eric Kripke, seen the success of the series and its rapid renewal for a second season (which, no doubt, deserves it).

They are just the peak of an iceberg. You can’t imagine what’s underneath. Kripke and some of the actors, such as Karl Urban, images, and more images of the bloody boys have begun to hang on their social networks … but we already expected that.

We are talking about a group of outcasts whose crusade is to end the assembly line superheroes that Vought has created. We did not expect otherwise. Because that is the essence of the series and the collection of comics on which it is based: ending the false gods by doing whatever it takes, whether legal, moral, lawful or not.

The first season of ‘The Boys’ revealed that the almighty Vought multinational corporation was in charge of creating all the “superheroes” and hiding the scandal related to Billy’s wife.

Throughout the season, Butcher seeks revenge on the Homelander, the man who raped and caused the death of his wife. However, in the last episode, it is discovered, unlike the comics, Becca (Shantel VanSanten) is actually still alive and that he secretly raised the son he had with the superhero.

Given the finale, it is likely that the second season of ‘The Boys’ will move further away from its source material since Billy’s main motivation to face the superheroes no longer exists and Homelander must deal with fatherhood. Also, Stillwell’s death will cause the Seven to have more power.

Another issue that the new episodes could address is the decision to allow superheroes to enter the United States Army.

In the comics of Ennis and Robertson, Tek-Knight appears, a hero who appears after Hughie joins the gang, the same one that could gain prominence in the second season of “The Boys” if so, it would be interesting to see how they adapt to this peculiar character.

WHEN WILL THE SEASON 2 OF “THE BOYS” PREMIERE?

The second season of The Boys does not yet have an official release date, but most likely the new episodes arrive on Amazon Prime Video in late 2020 or early 2021.
