In some alternate reality, we would have been approaching E3 time where fans would have gathered both virtually and in-person to see what the future of video games will look like. EA has previously utilized that time for their own fan event and press conference EA Play. What was originally scheduled for June 11 has now officially been delayed one week, June 18 (4PM PST/7PM EST).

EA put out this statement on social media.

EA’s decision to let more important voices be heard follows the delay of the PS5 reveal by Sony which the company has stated they will announce a new date for soon.

EA Play is expected to show a new Star Wars game and tease future games from Respawn Entertainment.

Valve has also announced that the Steam Game Festival has been postponed a week. Originally started to begin on June 9, the Steam Game Festival will instead start on June 16 and last until June 22. While Valve didn’t give an official statement on the reason, it’s reasonable to assume the company is also giving space to the ongoing protesting across the world now.
